A good boss battle requires you to use all the things you've learned along the way and serves as a climax to a particular section in a game. When done right, it's one the most satisfying things in gaming. Get ready for the five best boss battles in gaming!

5. Mr. Freeze - Batman: Arkham City

The Mr. Freeze fight in Batman: Arkham City is amazing on a technical level. The battle was extremely well designed as he you forced you to use all the skills you had been learning up until that point. It made fighting this chillingly powerful villain a whole lot of fun.

4. The 5th Colossus - Shadow of the Colossus

Shadow of the Colossus has so many good bosses but the fifth Colossus is our favorite. It was such a rush to grab on to this flying monster as he made his way through rainy skies. Killing him even left us feeling a little sad.

3. Psycho Mantis

The Metal Gear Solid series also has a lot of good bosses... But our favorite boss has to be Psycho Mantis. The way he broke the fourth wall by blacking out the screen ... reading your memory card ... and making you switch controller ports is part of gaming history.

2. Hydra battle - God of War

The Hydra battle in the first God of War game delivered on what we all thought games were going to be like growing up in the 8-bit era. The rain, screaming people, and menacing Hydra heads made for such an epic battle. The boss battles in later games may have outdone this one in scale but the Hydra fight will always be our favorite, simply cause it was the first.

1. Ganondorf - Legend Of Zelda: Ocarina Of Time

Ganondorf's last stand in Ocarina Of Time is the daddy of all boss fights. A grand multi staged boss fight was the way to end a game as perfect as Ocarina, and boy does it deliver! We'll never forget facing his massive final form without our trusty Master Sword. It's an truly epic encounter that is still unmatched to this day.
